I decided to try out Brooklyn Pizzeria on a recommendation from a friend and I loved it .. I lived in the New York / New Jersey area for 30 years and there's nothing quite like the taste of a freshly made pizza for anyone that's lived or worked in that part of the country. I'm not sure why pizza from that area tastes so distinct.... I've heard it's the water used in the dough, but I'm not sure if that's a fact or just an old wives tale... I can honestly say that Brooklyn Pizzeria is just as good as any of the local pizza joints that I grew up enjoying so much. Everyone may have had their own favorite local pizza place, but anyone can tell you what a good slice of NY pizza tastes like. Many New Yorker's will fold a slice of pizza in half while quickly eating it (eating while walking, talking , driving etc). Well, I decided to put my first slice of this pizza to "the fold and eat" test to see if it would make a mess in my lap... AAA+ because it passed with flying colors!! It wasn't oily or greasy, the cheese and sauce didn't drip all over my shirt or pants while eating and driving .. Everything stayed in place just like it should... My slice tasted great right up through the crust and the bottom of the pizza was nicely baked with just the right amount of crunch. The pizza didn't get soft or squishy from excess grease dripping through the dough onto the box. That would've been a pizza fail!! This pizza was perfect in every respect. I noticed they even sell single slices of pizza, something I haven't seen in the Houston area. I've tried all the big pizza chains like most people have... The same places that seem to care less about what a customer thinks once they've placed their order. Have you tried picking up the phone to change your pizza order?, or to correct a problem?, or simply ask a question? It's nearly impossible to reach your local pizza chain delivery place anymore.... Your call gets routed to a call center in the middle of nowhere.. A lotta good that will do ya if you have a problem.. I've learned from experience that it's better to speak to someone at the specific location that I choose to patronize whenever possible. I saw on their website that they offer online ordering, delivery and takeout but I decided to call ahead and speak to a "real" person, someone that actually worked in this place.. I asked a few questions then placed my carryout order which they said would be ready in 10-15 minutes....I went inside, was greeted promptly, and my pizza was ready on time, I asked if I can get some napkins to go and they gave me a stack... They even asked me if I needed any toppings for my pizza, paper plates or forks , which I thought was very nice of them. I didn't get charged extra like a big chain might have done...... if they actually offered plates, forks or extras... I've tried many local mom-and-pop establishments while traveling the country and haven't had anything close to the taste of NY pizza .. I noticed they offer many of the typical hero/sub sandwiches, dinners and desserts available in most local NYC pizzerias..... the next time I order I may try some of the other menu options.. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoyed local New York-New Jersey area pizzeria's or anyone who wants a great tasting, handmade pizza made with fresh dough and quality ingredients. This will be my number one choice from now on.
