They have the only proper scone I have ever found in this town. Crumbly, with any sweetness coming from glaze or add ins, not the scone itself. Everyone else serves sweetbreads cut into triangles. The chocolate and blueberry are amazing. The seasonal orange cinnamon, which I was excited for, is lacking flavor, and not in a good way. It is like when a soda machine is out of syrup and you seem kind of taste what used to be there. I am disappointed they didn't do a traditional maple nut scone, if not all year, at least in fall and winter.
The muffins taste is ok, but had always been a bit dry. Perhaps I am catching them second day. The donuts are ok, also a bit dry or overcooked? I can't quite place my finger on it.
The grocery has a good selection, some of it is overpriced, even considering the location. It is great to see them carry old capitol tofu, not only is it local, it is hands down the best tofu I've tasted anywhere in the world.
It is highly disappointing that they refuse to mark everything that is EBT eligible as such. Due to the fact that they have not even responded to multiple emails pointing out the mistake over a few years, it appears to be a personal issue with people who need help buying donuts, muffins, etc with their EBT cards. Luckily from the co-op, to Hy-Vee, to Casey's you can get things at the bakery counter, unfortunately the last two have very bad bakeries.
