I walk in and it's pretty busy, no problem, I don't mind waiting my turn. After 20 or so minutes of no one even glancing in my direction I ask a bartender nearby VERY politely if i could get served. I guess she was too busy making a drink to answer like a normal service employee. She immediately snaps pretty loudly at me to be patient like I'm a dog. I don't frequent bars very often because I'm not a big drinker so I was unsure of how their system worked. Considering I was ignored for 20 minutes and I just got off of my 12 hour shift standing all day, I don't think it's outrageous to just ask very politely. The bartender comes back to see what I wanted to order like nothing happened so I told her off. I'm assuming this was her manager who came back to tell me they won't serve me because of what I said. She said she would talk to the bartender about how she handled things but she didn't seem like she really cared all that much about the situation. I guess they can't handle being treated how they treat their own customers. I work at a restaurant. I know full well how these jobs can be. They have to deal with grouchy people all day which is why I made sure I was very polite so I don't add on to their stress. I don't mind if service is slow or if I have to wait. But, I'd at least like to know if I'm gonna get a drink within the hour. I gave them my patience and respect but I guess that's not really worth a whole lot to them.
