Wife and I visited this fine establishment TWICE on our trip to Memphis this week. I initially found Arnold’s from a list of Black owned businesses in Memphis, my wife and I always choose to support local versus corporate/chain places. Also, I really wanted to sample the famous Memphis BBQ. Whew! Chef Mike and his team of professionals did NOT DISAPPOINT. The rib plate, the brisket, the catfish, and the scrumptious sides (potato salad, baked beans, and greens) were on POINT! Our first visit we split the catfish dinner plate and it was probably the best catfish I have had! Good portions and the wife and I were happy. Unfortunately, we came at the end of a very busy day and they were out of the BBQ dishes. Honestly, this is always a GOOD sign. Means the place is popular. And they are popular for good reason! We had to come back to get some of their famous ribs. And they were exactly what I was craving and did the Memphis tradition proud! As a born and raised Californian, these ribs (and the wonderful team of servers and Chef’s at Arnold’s!) put most BBQ joints in Cali to shame! LOL All this being said, the real gem are the PEOPLE of Arnold’s. Chef Mike is a talented business owner and fantastic cook. We were able to chat with him about his business and his food philosophy. He and his team make everything in house which means the food tastes like home cooked meal. Sigh…made me want to go home honestly and hug my Momma. lol Food that makes you think and feel like you’re home, is always the BEST. Do yourself a favor and continue to treat yourself by eating at Arnold’s BBQ in downtown Memphis. You will NOT be sorry! Special shout out to Sherri!! Thank you for a wonderful experience and great info on local museums in the south! Much love!! PS - try their banana pudding too! Whew…deeeelicious!
