I celebrated my birthday here a couple weeks back. Honestly I had a lot of people said this place was overhyped, I can say this place was amazing, from start to finish. First off the venue is super nice, has a lot to look at while waiting for a table, with the gun room to all the photos of famous people. We had Meagan as our server, she was absolutely amazing, couldn’t ask for a better server. She was patient with us, gave us our space at the table and even toured us around at the very end. Started off with the appetizer sampler, which included: bbq pork ribs (awesome!, a little small though), oysters (I’m just not a fan of them in general), shrimp cocktail (which were fine, nothing special to them, they tasted like they normally would taste like), NC crab cakes (which were insanely good, some of the best I’ve ever had). And then separately from the combo we got the Mac and cheese which was good. In between that I got their French onion soup, which was beautifully made, nothing overly done with it, definitely hits the spot. For the main meal I got the espresso rub filet, which just kind of melts in your mouth, perfectly cooked as medium rare. The string beans were some of the best I’ve ever had, the blue cheese mashed potatoes were just ok though, the blue cheese can sort of be overwhelming. Lastly, to end off the meal perfectly was the sawdust pie, which was incredible also. I also definitely want to give recognition to the bartender who made one of the best drinks I’ve ever had which was the angus barn gold rush. It was so dang good, could have had a pitcher of it. I also got the Higgin’s Royal Punch which was also quite good. Honestly believe the hype of how good this is when people talk positively about it and ignore the ones who say it’s overrated. This place is awesome!
