I was excited to try the beef marrow pho. It sounds amazing, right? I got it to-go, and was handed two parcels by the friendly staff. When I sat down to eat: the noodles were overcooked and disintegrating, in a completely bland, fatty broth with a few chunks of meat in it. Was the fat supposed to be the marrow? It had no salt in it and was honestly pretty gross. There was even a small tray thoughtfully placed to keep the noodles out of the broth so they wouldn’t get soggy, but it had no effect because they were overcooked before the order was assembled. I’m Asian and I make them often: it’s not hard to cook rice noodles without destroying them, so this really struck me as negligent. The weird thing was the second parcel. It contained two huge beef bones, almost the size of a baseball catcher’s mitt. Like, enormous. They’d told me it was “to put in the soup.” The bones were obviously way too big to fit into the tiny plastic bowl. They also had no meat on them. I’m not in a place where I can boil the bones for stock, even if I wanted to (which I didn’t… I got takeout because I don’t have time to cook). So they basically gave me some big, stinky trash with my flavorless order lol.Paid about $26 after tax and tip for the privilege of this experience. Not returning!
