I’ve been a loyal Publix customer for years, but my recent experience at this sub line on April 6th 2025, was hands down the worst I’ve ever had—not just at Publix, but at any sub line anywhere, period.
After a family departed the line, there were only three people ahead of me, yet I stood in line for nearly an hour. An entire hour. It felt like time stopped somewhere between the painfully slow sandwich assembly and the lack of urgency from the staff behind the counter. There was no sense of coordination or efficiency—just a chaotic, sluggish shuffle that turned a simple lunch run into an exhausting ordeal.
What’s especially frustrating is that Publix usually prides itself on customer service and consistency, which makes this experience even more disappointing. No one from the deli apologized. No one communicated the delay, and no one seemed particularly concerned that customers were visibly irritated.
If I wanted to spend an hour waiting for a sandwich, I’d go to a gourmet deli with artisan bread flown in from Paris—not stand around under harsh fluorescent lighting, watching a 20-minute sub be made in real time like it’s a live performance art piece.
The only person who showed even a hint of concern was the woman at the sample station. She noticed how long we were all waiting and genuinely seemed to care. She offered a kind word, a sympathetic smile, and even checked in to make sure we were okay—something none of the deli workers thought to do. If not for her sparking some urgency in the deli staff, we may have been there another 30-45 minutes. She was a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating experience.
Publix, please do better. This level of service is unacceptable.
