The cathedral carries an old-world charm, reminiscent of those in Italy. Its stained-glass windows glow with breathtaking colors, casting a spellbinding light within. Though parts of the building were under restoration during our visit, and the famed Darth Vader gargoyle was hidden behind scaffolding, the...Read More

This is to highly recommend a visit to the gardens at the cathedral. There are so many different areas with outstanding plantings. Fantastic variety with a koi pond and many native plantings and hundred year old trees.

I’ve seen cathedrals across Europe and this one is a United States gem. This, by far, is one of the most beautiful examples of flying buttresses. It is just gorgeous and you must see if when in DC. The tapestries are truly breathtaking taking, too.

Breathtaking Gothic architecture. Looks like it's straight out of Europe. Amazing to think it's actually modern construction with craftsmen meticulously following the techniques from centuries past. Truly, hauntingly beautiful.
