This was a beautiful and peaceful river park! My girlfriends and I rented kayaks for a morning paddle, and although the prices were a bit steep, the experience was absolutely worth it—especially if you’re planning to be out for the whole day. As Midwesterners, seeing birds and manatees in their natural habitat was exciting and new. There was a light tide, which added a bit of fun challenge to navigating the river.
After kayaking, we enjoyed our sandwiches and went for a hike. While there weren’t many trails, the one at the north point led us to a historic statue and another scenic view of the river. I’d absolutely recommend this scenic, nature-filled escape to anyone in the area looking to unwind and explore.
