Many of the rooms with ancient artifacts are dimly lit which really adds to the somber ambiance. You feel like you’re walking among giants in these great rooms with oversized paintings and larger-than-life statues.
Overall, the art collection that is viewable to the public is astounding. They have statues, paintings, sculptures, furniture, and so many artifacts to represent a variety of cultures throughout the history of humankind, some of which are from big names like Monet and Van Gogh.
My favorite is Guanyin (my first photo) which is carved from a tree trunk and has such a gentleness about them. The wall behind them is a huge mural. This entire room is dizzyingly beautiful and almost surreal due to the enormity of the space. It’s actually very grounding. I could spend hours sitting in there.
The museum also offers a lot of classes, special exhibits, and events throughout the year that might carry a cost, but general admission to the museum is free.
