Start by following the train tracks until you reach the tunnel, on the right side of the tunnel is a rope to help u get on top of the tunnel, than you walk along the concrete sidewalk until you reach the gates of hell as I like to say, you can go under the bridge as well which has nice graffiti..

There are a lot of no trespassing signs.
The trails are overgrown and not maintained so you'll have to walk through brush at some points.
Don't walk through the train tunnel.
I'd recommend going with at least one other because it did feel a little sketchy.

I haven’t been there in a long time but it was a favorite date spot when I was in high school. A short, sweet & beautiful escape from Fremont‘s normal, predictable scenery with some exciting trails and triumphs!

Back in the 80s this was the ultimate party spot on the weekends. There'd be hundreds of teenagers chillin on the sidewalk. I recall there being a stretch of it that was elevated and scary to traverse... a long ways down if you fell off. But what made it safer to walk were the many kids sitting on the edge with there feet dangling over... they were a natural barrier. That's gen X.. if our parents only knew what we were up to haha. I had a friend that lived in one of the last houses on Old Canon Rd, very convenient crash pad after certain activities. Side note: Charlie Chaplin made his first film of notoriety "The Tramp" in Niles. In 1913 the company that employed Chaplin built 10 modest cottages for their actors on 2nd Street, between F and G streets, and constructed an unassuming studio nearby. There's also a very haunting story about the White Witch of Niles.... look it up if you dare!

Don't waste your time - no trespassing signs everywhere. No place to park and walk, Google maps brings you to a dead end private road along a questionable residential area. It's a secret for a reason.
