My son spent nearly 2 years under their care and started there during COVID times in early 2021. Up until then, since my son was 3 months old, we were locked down and isolated from other parents and kids. It was a difficult time, my partner and I were drained and needed to return to work, I was worried about his social development, and I was concerned about the risks of putting him in daycare during the height of COVID-19.After touring the center and speaking with Kate, the owner, I decided to send my son part time. Kate was very accommodating to our schedule, which gave us some financial flexibility. From the start, COVID protocols were strictly followed, we were always kept in the know, and I felt comforted that my son was being kept as safe as possible during his time at daycare. They even worked with us to help him get used to wearing a mask (They are MAGIC- I don’t know how they were able to do this!).Beyond safety, there was always something fun happening each day at Rainbow. Local teachers/artists regularly provided yoga, music, Spanish, and other lessons. The space is warm, safe, and welcoming- there is also a wonderful backyard area. Another huge help to us- Rainbow served a nutritious breakfast and lunch every day (I understand now that we are in preschool and I am constantly making lunches just how valuable that is). My son was so happy there that we were able to increase the days he spent there each week.The teachers are warm, welcoming, and invested in the children in their care. I’ve been a teacher for about 2 decades, so I can see + feel when teachers really care. At pickup and drop-off, we came to know everyone on staff and they were always helpful and able to answer questions. I felt like I could communicate with Kate and the rest of the staff about anything, and they were always on board with big transitions like potty training and naps. They helped us create a routine, social structure, and reinforce what we were doing at home. I truly trusted my son with them, they are clearly experienced and take pride in caregiving.Most importantly, Rainbow Palace was a blessing to us in the form of giving both my son AND us some lifelong friends! My son has been in preschool for a few months now, but he still sees his friends from Rainbow all the time. My heart swells with how much he has gained from his time there- his behavior, verbal, academic, and social development, love and trust for others have all grown exponentially. During the pandemic, I felt very alone in the parenting game, but the parents we met through Rainbow gave us some much-needed solidarity and comfort. Further, having Rainbow in our lives allowed my partner and I priceless space and time to focus, work, and rest.If you are looking for a quality, caring, flexible, safe, and welcoming childcare option in the neighborhood, I cannot recommend Rainbow Palace Daycare enough.
