Incredible spot. A must see if you are in the area. The grounds were very clean, parking was easy and convenient right underneath. We planned to stop for a few minutes and ending up spending 2 hours walking around.

Beautiful place to go year round. Museums, the Egg, skating rink, the State Capitol, lawns to sit on and have a picnic, sculptures, 9/11 memorial, fire fighter's memorial. I will add more images as I find them. Great place to visit!

This is the place in Albany to visit during the summertime. Plaza is hugh and surrounded by similarly structured buildings and a hugh water fountain in the middle. I am sure in the warmer months, this must be a place to hang out. I saw...Read More

Stunning views of the capitol and surrounding buildings, throughout the plaza. Free ice skating in the winter. Bring your own skates. We need to come back when it isn’t so cold - several venues were closed off due to construction. But I can see how...Read More

I absolutely loved walking around this beautiful plaza. Everything is so clean and well maintained. Plus, the views are amazing. If you go underground there are places to eat, a gift shop and restrooms. This is a definite must visit spot while visiting the area.

Beautiful grounds on a nice day. Great brutalist architecture (similar to Boston city hall) on a grand and beautiful scale offset by the traditional state capital building, but it somehow works. A great place to have lunch outside or to take photos.

Must see if in Albany, loved walk thru it. Great architecture and design by Wallace Harrison, who, no doubt, was looking to Brazilian genius Oscar Niemeyer, who designed Brasília, the capital of Brazil constructed back in 1959. Just google "Brasilia Esplanada" and you'll see.

The sudden shift from the Classical/Romanesque fortress of the NYS Capitol to being surrounded with giant Brutalist sculptures is vivid and in your face. Both are playgrounds for light&shadow. Couldn’t have asked for a better day

Beautiful #publicspace to wander through. Its eerily quiet though, seems like most people are underground and don't venture to the street level. There are also a bunch of food trucks near the #Capitol that open shop around lunchtime. Some interesting and well priced options are on...Read More

It's such a beautiful spot to walk around at night! One of my favorite things to do is to grab a drink around town and just sit and chat with friends at the plaza. Even in the summer, it's fairly quiet and people are generally...Read More

This is a big plaza, and they are all connected to an underground walkway so that many people can walk when the weather is inclement. Also that people need to pass through the security to get into the government buildings.
