While on a week-end getaway in Daytona Beach, my Husband and I decided to take a tour of The Daytona Speedway. We live in North Florida, and have a vacation home in Orlando, so we drive straight through Daytona Beach several times a year. This time we decided to stay for the week-end and do some sight-seeing. We have always wanted to go to the Raceway to see a race, but there was not an event that week-end. There are Tours. You can go online to check the Tour dates and times. You can also book your tour online. We actually just walked into The Tour Lobby, and booked. The Employees are friendly and very informative. The price is $26.00 for adults. The tour is about 45-minutes to 1 hour. They do give a military discount, so we were able to save $10. You are carted around on a covered expanded golf cart. It was fun and comfortable. You are able to take pictures along the way. This place is huge!. The Tour takes you all around. Close to the track, and Victory Lane. We were able to go into the stands and seating. There were some cars on the track, which was exciting. The tour ends at The Museum. This was an unexpected surprise. There are so many history making cars. Self guided tour, the history was amazing. Also this is home to The Motor Sports Hall of Fame. The number of bikes, and history was very educational.
Overall, it is a rewarding experience. Well worth the price. I would to warn you to check the weather forecast before you book. Once you pay, they do not cancel the tour in case of rain. It actually starting raining right at the end of our tour. We did not get wet, but others did. This is something that I would do again.
