McDonald's in Chicago

Generally a good experience. Fast food, friendly staff, clean, and interesting architecture. A little bit of a feeling like living in the future sustainable environment. Lots of sunny seats to people watch or plug your charger in to work or play. Clean restrooms, lots of paid parking with purchase, drive thru window, easy access to on ramp expressway. Food good with a few healthy choices all priced higher than most McDonald's locations.

They have twist cones! Meaning half vanilla half chocolate ice cream.If you're paying with a card you have to order at a kiosk. They will only help you at the counter if you're paying with cash. Our food was perfect, just the way we ordered it. They also have a Blink car charger in the parking lot. They also have a drive thru. They also charged us $1.00 for a large iced water. No free water here. Even when you spend $30.00 here.

It used to be the cool Roll and Roll McDonald’s that featured in few Hollywood films. But these days it’s just a big McDonald’s without the cool stuff inside. Every item is more expensive here than elsewhere.When I used the bathroom there was a homeless man with his shirt off washing himself by the sink. Yeah, not a sight I want before eating 🤦🏻‍♂️

McDonald's of America!This is the most gaudy McDonald's I've ever seen in my life. With arches the size of my dorm room and windows 20 ft tall, this is literally a cathedral to the McDonald's legacy.I came here back when I was very little and it was a rock and roll McDonald's. The place was pretty bright and showy then, but this!Anyway, I digress. I do like the hollow loft feel of the place. I gotta say. You know, people don't come to McDonald's for intimacy. It's nice that the space is so abundant, organized and efficiently architecturally designed. This way you enjoy a quick, "practical" meal; in this case 2 sausage 'scuits and a 'spresso, in a setting that's very eye catching but also not too cozy.This creates a more professional and reserved feel. I walked in and felt like I was in a library or finishing school. Immediately I put my inside voice on. This may have been because it was in the early morning and every echo was magnified by the space.The service was, efficient. Not bad, not necessarily good. It seems, if you want to pay with cash this may NOT the place for you as the wait for assistance with cash was untimely. Still, who uses cash nowadays. I'm simply doing a study to understand the best places for my friends and fam to go, and they use cash a lot.This McDonald's is good for anyone though. Besides the customer service. This place is just outstanding for anyone interested in seeing the forefront of fast food in action. High ceilings, hidden secret windows that only allow you a peak at what's inside, dead plants (wood) and animals (leather) everywhere; classy, and to top it all off, a clear visual of Chicago's version of the Vegas Strip.Overall, this place is like that movie Ex Machina. I went in a bit drunk and overexcited and by the time I came out I was enlightened but a bit confused. Like the film I'll have to revisit this spot and look at in with more detail. I'll be sure to return here again.Maybe you'll stop in too. And if you do land that date with your robot girlfriend who has recently developed a consciousness, let me hear how ya like it in this museum of a McDonald's.

There was a couple next to me that wanted to tip a service worker for bringing the food out so quick. The re design is amazing and the self service kiosks are the future of food service. I want to comment on how adult McDonald's is looking nowadays. These flagship locations and stores are cool to experience but I can't help but feel my childhood has grown with the store. The food demands nostalgia but the atmosphere is so modern that I wonder what kids think, I wonder what little me would think of these new stores. So sterile and modern. Not designed for kids. Makes you think.

It's a clean, spacious, and modern restaurant with lots of self-service kiosks. I made an order with a friendly employee, and it was ready practically instantly. Many tables to choose from where you can eat alone or in a small group. I liked the wall with plants too sad half of them are dead.The food was hot and tasty as always.

Went there this morning had them mess up my order not once but twice charged me for medium macchiato gives me a small then the oatmeal cup was like 90 percent empty I called multiple times no answer. When I spoke to the guy in the window abouty order in the first place he was rude when I had asked him to repeat the order... This place it sad if you don't like your job find a new one real talk don't steal people's money and expect people to be happy with it....

It's nice, it's pretty, it's new... Really, its just a shiny new flagship McDonalds. They will serve you at your seat which is nice. It very much resembles an Apple store. I like the old McDonalds that they demolished to build this one. This one is nice for now but after the shiny and new is over, its just going to be another McDonalds. The old one had the history of McDonalds on display which was pretty cool. This one is... a glass box with solar panels.

I ordered 2 McChickens and 2 mcdoubles.One mcdouble I ordered with lettuce tomato and mayo, I go to open that one up and it's a McChicken IN an mcdouble wrapper WITH a mcdouble grill slip!Then on the McChickens there is literally almost NO lettuce.I also ordered my chocolate chip frappe with no caramel and it came with what seems like extra! Terrible service. Will NOT visit this location again. And I wouldn't order Uber eats from this location either since you can go right back in and get it fixed!

We didn't get the opportunity to eat at this McDonald's. This was actually a pickup spot for an excursion we were taking. But next time we will definitely stop in and dine. This was an absolutely gorgeous McDonald's. You wouldn't expect a McDonald's to look like this but it actually looked like a Macy's. Two stories encased with glass windows, very gorgeous definitely be back

I mean I can’t complain too much, it’s McDonald’s and it’s cheap, so my expectations are already at a certain level before I even get my food.Pictured below is a $2.99 cheeseburger that I ordered with onions. Apparently whoever was assembling food today thought 1/4tsp of onions was an appropriate amount 🤣😭😭

The food was okay, even though words “light silver onions” doesn’t mean anything to them. The biggest problem was that ALL the bathrooms were CLOSED and the employee was rude when we asked why. Neither orders for eating here, nor cash, so we had to stay in line.Kid-friendliness: All the bathrooms were closed, so nobody could even wash their hands.

This is their flagship store… nothing special, nothing new, nothing exotic. It is literally the same food you can buy in Houston, but $2 more per item. Don’t waste your time here. Go to literally any other great option in the area. When we went, it was a 30 minute disaster before we literally left and accepted our loss on $20 worth of food. If you already had low expectations for McDonald’s, lower them even further before coming here. It isn’t a flagship, it is a sinking ship.

Terrible service! There were enough fries sitting on the warmer to feed an army and every single one of them looked soggy and old. Photo enclosed……. A guy was asking for a missing fry and sauce and had to practically beg for it.The place is apparently take out only after 10:00 but the wise guy “security guard” made a point of saying that while I was eating just a hamburger (all I got) and said to me rudely “it’s not that difficult a concept”. Well security man, guess being nice to customers *is* that difficult a concept………

What's up with the happy meals at this location? My kid said that they bun was crunchy on her plain cheeseburger. It wasn't tasty. Then, she wanted the toy that's pictured. Either the Disney princess or Star Wars toy would've been good. Instead, we first got a robot. Went back in, and got a Hello Kitty teacup. 😒 Kids need better quality.

This place was the cream of the crop. It used to be a, "Let's Quickly stop at McD," type of place. No longer.The service here is terrible beyond terrible. Food delivery is slow. Even the quick check out kiosks dont have numbers for eating in; you literally have to ask for the employees for one or stand call out line.Worst, the place is disgustingly unsanitary; tables are dirty and there is food on the floor. In my observation, one person cleans the entire place. In talking with that employee, she confirmed my observation.I don't recommend coming here...

They need to go back to drawing board on how to expedite the best customer service...It was at least 50 customers waiting for their order at 2am...They had no rhyme or reason to why it was a delay...Having Manager experience you need to delicate two crew members for Uber, Doordash...etc. Find who is the fastest crew worker and delicate them to sodas etc... Everyone need to move faster...You definitely need someone to only clean the kitchen area because it was horrible for your restaurant to be brand new... The manager staffed tonight couldn't handle the fast pace for a Saturday..maybe he need to be signed to Monday through Wednesday..I also noticed that the orders weren't properly filled...The counter was constantly bum-rush with bags with missing items which is taking time from the new order fulfillment...Back to the drawing board before sales drop...The inside decor is boring I was expecting to be knocked off my feet when I walked in...Plain Jane the outside is Awesome but the inside🤔🤔 where is the main attractions that's going to make the customer come back..The service is horrible and the inside is plain...🤔🤔🤔🤔

Definitely not what the internet made it out to be, nor what it was last time I visited 8 years ago. The landmark that it once was has been demolished and replaced with a “green space,” which apparently means there’s potted plants hanging inside the dining area and trees on the roof; otherwise nothing setting it apart from an average McDonald’s except for high ceilings and even higher prices. I PAID $72 FOR THE SAME $18 WORTH OF FOOD THAT WOULD GENERALLY FEED MY 3 KIDS AT OUR LOCAL LOCATION. Also, parking is only “free” for the first 30 min and something like $12/hour after that. Was also a heavy presence aggressive/belligerent solicitors and seemingly homeless people.

It may be December 25, but 50 minutes to prepare a simple order for 4 people is clearly four times too long. What's more, to be thrown out of the restaurant, unceremoniously, barely after being seated at the table by the security guard, like all the other customers present at the time, is just unacceptable.I had been warned that McDonalds was a bad fast-food restaurant, and I was not disappointed!

I didn't notice that you only had 45 minutes to be parked there on mcdonald's parking ticket. Was there for 51 minutes and was charged $18.00 for parking even though I dined in and got an extra coffee to enjoy while dining in. I will never go back to this McDonald's!! They screwed a customer who bought food to dine in!! Unreal!! Are they that hard up for money that they charge customers to park after 45 minutes?

Mobile orders for pick up at counter are never ready on time & if they are there they never acknowledge anyone standing there or put orders on rack for pickup. Also mobile orders with drinks are to go in bags for pick up with drink rack in big paper bag. They never want to do that make a face when asked as I live blocks away it’s convenient to carry that way. The manager when I asked the girl to put in to go bag for drink in Spanish said let her do it herself! Yeah I’m Mexican living in river north. Rude. It was a Friday evening. Also large fries even in drive up are never filled to full always half way.

What a change of experience.. Kara's one amazing manager .. it only took me less than one single minute to see the type of manager she was.. she was on top of three things at one time within a few seconds and was also a friendly and polite and sincerely cares about the guests and the experiences they have, can't say the same for some other locations.. but they are very lucky to have you, these are a prime example of the kind of employees you want working for your company!!!!!

This place always appears empty. They can easily seat over 350 patrons yet they usually have no more than 25 People seated which doesn't makes sense. Then I realized it's not really car bound visitor friendly. They only allow 30 minutes free parking, then they start charging. I usually like to get comfortable and enjoy my meal and do some quick response phone calls or return emails responses. 30 minutes is NOT enough time to casually enjoy a meal here and return phone calls or emails. They have so SO much available space but yet they force car driving patrons out by the silly 30 minutes free parking only. They need to extend that free parking to paying customers!

As we were ordering, we asked to upgraded the size of the fries in the kids meal which we do all the time at every other location. Clara declined us this request and said that wasn’t “possible” unfortunately she decided to have an attitude as we said okay then we will change our order. She rushed us, and was extremely rude. Won’t recommend or be back.

I rate below 0. I was charged the regular price for a “Senior Coffee” Senior price coffee is supposed to be available at all stores—-but is not. At 600 N Clark St., Chicago I had the most horrible experience I’ve ever had. I asked for the Senior Coffee & the employee put on the register $1.00 and w tax, $1.12. I handed him $5, a few seconds later a Supervisor comes to the Register and touches the screen and changes the price to $1.77. I asked why. They told me: “We don’t have Senior size. We have the option!” So that means that they can choose to charge more & ignore the Senior price? How awful. To add insult to injury, I parked in their very empty parking lot in a Disabled spot at 6:15 PM on 4/24/24. When I tried to exit, I had to pass a gated barrier and pay $ for my time spent! It said “this a a credit-card-only lot.” Had I known that, I would have gone elsewhere. I have never before paid for parking at a McDonald’s lot—-Preposterous. Because I stayed 60 minutes, I was forced to pay $18.00! So for sitting 1 hour and buying the small-size coffee, I paid $19.77. Does McDonald’s Corporation consider this fair. I’d like to hear the CEO say that. I’ll try to reach them for their responses.Daniel Wasserman, in Chicago, 4/24/24.Parking: I already mentioned I was forced to pay $18 via credit card for having gone over 30 minutes sitting inside the location at 600 N. Clark St., Chicago. How awful is that. I’d like either of 1 of 2 solutions by McDonald’s: either I should be refunded the $18.00, or receive free “Senior Coffee” for life to make up for this disastrous experience. A Disabled-Senior Citizen on a fixed-income shouldn’t be forced to pay $19.77 for sitting 1 hour and drinking the small-size Coffee! What do U all think?

Kind of a cool space architecturally but really just a large bus terminal filled with people taking shelter off the street. The food and service is basically automated so bring a credit card and forget holding the onions.To be honest, its a tourist trap -- save the airport experience for the trip home and go across the street to enjoy a decent burger at the Hard Rock Cafe, or for a more "traditional" Chicago experience, hit up the Portillos - Barnellis food emporium, also across the street (great place for kids, tweens, and teens). If McD's is your must-have, the official McDonald's University training center is just a 20 min walk to the West Loop -- excellent service and menu items from around the world. (Dont worry -- the robots here aren't yet sentient so no feelings will be hurt if you quietly sneak out -- just don't wake up any of the sleeping customers 🤫 ✌

They've done a number to this place. Aside from being the most expensive McDonalds in Illinois, the place felt depressing. It's all automated kiosks and the employee behind the counter wouldn't take my order and kept telling me to go to the kiosk. They charge for a cup of water and you must ask for any little thing that you need. They shorted me 1 BBQ sauce for a Happy Meal and they didn't believe me. We had to take out all of the BBQ sauces from the 3 happy meals and a meal to prove that they shorted me 1 sauce. The long metal tables are pitted with rust so we had to break the family up between 2 tables. Parking is included for 30min so eat your food if not you pay $12 for 31-60min. Avoid is possible. Go across the street to Portillos.Parking: First 30min is free. 31-60min is $12. 61min+ cost more but forgot the price.
