I originally left a positive review for The Rose Law Firm, but unfortunately, I need to revise it based on my recent experience. I had a free 45-minute consultation, which by definition should have been free. After deciding not to proceed with a divorce, I was told by the secretary that it was no problem and that since no papers were filed and no legal work had been done, I’d get most of my $5,000 retainer back—possibly with a small deduction of around $100.
However, when I received my refund, $480 was deducted. I was told it was for creating and “holding a file for seven years” – something I was never informed about ahead of time. This feels like a made-up charge, and to me, it comes off as sneaky and misleading. The consultation was supposed to be free, and no actual legal work was done.
In my opinion, this is not a trustworthy way to do business. If you’re considering this firm, I strongly advise not paying anything upfront until you are 100% sure you are proceeding with legal services. Otherwise, you may end up losing money like I did.
