It was clear But because I had a minor and my husband didn't leave a will ( even though it was paid for w both of our names on it . No leins .. nothing, I still had to go through probate) I assumed that was good enough. No !!!! I went through hell to be able to sell what was mine. That being the "law" was bad enough. I was trying to sell it AS IS because floors was giving in. To much for me to keep up and my adopted grand daughter.
OK. So it's the "law" and they have to do what they gotta do. I'm already stressed out. My husband , a disabled vet had only passed a few months before. I couldn't quit crying so mad and trying to understand how they can tell me I have no right to sell what I worked and helped pay for. I tried to tell him I didn't understand but was trying to. If he had not been so so rude and explained. It was a shock. ( I understand it now of course) He said I had no say so and no choice in the decision because of a minor it was her best interest. OK. If I wasn't going to take care of her I would not of adopted her nor been trying to sell a house that she could literally fall through soon. Again... It's the law but I'm asking trying to understand the process . I didn't go to him. Probate assigned HIM.
HIS mean attitude was uncalled for . And then when I had to go out of his office while he talked to my grand daughter I could hear them.. I had so problem with him explaining " HER RIGHTS" But I couldn't understand why he would pick and question a child about things like do y'all have other vehicles like maybe ( he named off a couple if very very expensive sports cars ) if course she said no since we don't . Maybe that's the "law" to do that. But the things he even put her through , she was so upset . Losing her mother 3 years ago then her peepaw who raised her. Nether one of us understood his process. I just think , especially it being OUR small hometown. He could of just sit and explained to us what was going on . She already knew I had to take care of her. I thank him for telling her it was ALL in her best interest. But we didn't understand and when we left we both cried . His time and his attitude was uncalled for. He didn't even attempt to be nice
Maybe he didn't have to be . But it's a small town and you just don't treat people that way.
Maybe I've just through to much and have no right to expect otherwise because "that's his job" .I've delt with lawyers before doing "their job" and not one of them was ever so rude . Maybe because they were not assigned . Yet I still had to pay him. Which I dropped off at probate. ( I was $5.00 off because C. was not there and I was thinking I left correct amount ) Nope .. got a call saying I was $5.00 short and he ( Mr. Quarles) would not proceed till he got the other $5.00 So I drove back and dropped it off.. That was ok. He's gotta make a living to. But I didn't short him $5.00 on purpose . He let me know he wouldn't proceed till he had it.
Didn't mean for this to be so long but he left a lasting impression on both of us which was uncalled for . I cried the entire time PARTLY because I was also so mad that he was so rude and I knew I was going to say something I would really regret if I didn't hold it in. My grand daughter kept squeezing my hand because she knew I was so upset. .I love her . She had already been seeing a Dr. at 13 ( and at 11 and 12)
His attitude was uncalled for .
