Mr. Sadler is well versed at being an attorney, doing attorney things as attorneys do. What that means for you is, and this matters whether he's your attorney or the opposing party's attorney, he will gravitate down the path of maximizing the churn of requesting Admit/Denies and Discovery over one-on-one dialog and negotiations. This translates into time that he charges his client, which is good for his account receivables.
I noted that when my "limited scope" attorney met with him, and went over details that were also written out for him, that he did not retain the information to memory. As a result, he unnecessarily defaulted back to wanting to engage in Discovery to find the same information that had already been divulged to him. Again, lawyers make more money if they churn and go through the legal back and forth, so it is my impression that he did not prefer to find solutions outside of the courtroom to come to a more rapid agreement.
Mr. Sadler ended up releasing my ex as her attorney (he fired her!), because we came to an agreement on 95%+ of the issues on our own, in a single phone call. He was upset that she talked to me.
Mr. Saddler could have been instrumental in working with both of us to finalize last few details of the final draft of our divorce decree. To me, that fits the character of a good attorney that cares about the best interest of their client. I know attorneys argue otherwise and have reasons why, beyond making more money for themselves. Sometimes they can win bigger settlements for their client. However, the terms my ex and I agreed on are what his client wanted, and we had found solutions that worked for both of us. By releasing her, it has taken well over a year to move our case to a conclusion.
There are other attorneys out there that will work with you and support you in finding an effective, reasonable and quicker path to finalizing a case. In doing so, it saves you money, time and stress. As an example, I know from experience that McKillop is one of those attorneys, plus she can handle even the most aggressive opposing attorneys that chose to grind it out, need be.
Think about what drives attorneys' actions. Money. When an attorney has a full schedule, they push cases to a close quicker than attorneys that do not. In 2018, Saddler had billboards advertising his practice, so his schedule likely was not full. On the other hand, I was told by Patricia Stone, another good attorney I recommend, that there is a shortage of Family Law attorneys in San Angelo. Think about what all that means. I expect Saddler to churn his cases to maximize his cash-flow, and that money comes from your pocket, whether he's your attorney or the other party's attorney, and that is an expensive endeavor in which the only parties that win are the attorneys.
Best of luck! Divorce is stressful and time consuming, and finding an attorney, if you're not familiar with them, is very difficult. I hope this helps.
