First, no matter WHAT YOU HAVE OR HAVE NOT DONE they treat you like a person. Not a criminal, not a victim, not a child, a person. They get all of the facts as fast as they possibly can, and work with you regarding court dates, and short term payments.
Second, THEY KNOW THE LAWS. They will explain, in detail, what the maximum penalty is, or exactly what the other party is wanting and saying out of your case. Once they get all the information for the case, they will present you with avenues you can take to get you as close as possible to where you want to end up in the case.
Third, THEY WILL NOT QUIT. They push and push and push and reason with people involved in the case. The other party, the prosecutor, the judge....they ask all the right questions and provide information they have found out at the perfect time while in the courtroom. They will work their hardest for you "down to the wire."
MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE turned out BETTER than my personal belief of my own best case scenario! They DO NOT get paid enough for what they can do.
In short: NOTHING LESS THAN ABSOLUTE MAGIC!
