Be aware there are speed traps on Route 22 set up to make money, not ensure public safety. Once nabbed in the speed trap, there is only one evening per month to speak with or see anyone at the court, so you must spend a lot of money on certified mail to process your case. If you can't make it to pay your fine that one evening, plan to add additional fees to any payment. The system NY State uses to pay online with a credit card is garbage and they charge over $12. That's ridiculous when CC companies don't charge anywhere near that. Why are we taxed? Since you cannot use personal checks, a money order or certified check will run you $10 or so, and then the certified mail another $10, so even though a rip-off, the online system is cheaper than paper.
