The location is amazing, particularly if you want to stay close to the Presidio or doing something at the Palace of Fine Arts… Which is why we spent the night there although we live in the
area
The front desk manager, Peter, couldn’t have been nicer. But this is a rundown motel. It also has two or three of my biggest pet peeves
When we walked in we were hit by an overwhelming stench of floral room freshener, which of course was being used to cover the smell of mildew
Personally I always wake up with a stuffy nose when I have to sleep with those chemicals or mildew
Room was sufficient and the mattress and pillows comfortable… But it was so depressing in there. A muddy color on the walls, slanted art, and another pet peeve… Dirty lampshades… One of the cheapest and easiest ways to freshen up an area
Peter tells me they’re renovating the place, in which it might be worth than nearly $200 we spent for a weeknight
But for now, I would think twice… It’s an old motel and with a little love it could be fine, but it needs work
