I recently stayed at TownePlace Suites in downtown Rochester during a short visit to the Mayo Clinic, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The location couldn’t have been more convenient—just a short walk or a quick complimentary shuttle ride to both the Mayo Clinic and the civic center. The hotel has a modern, clean feel from the moment you walk into the lobby, and the check-in process was quick and friendly.
The room itself felt more like a small apartment than a hotel. I stayed in a studio suite with a full kitchen—stove, microwave, fridge, even utensils—which was perfect for a longer stay. The bed was comfortable, and the layout included a work desk and a cozy couch, which made it easy to relax or get work done. One of my favorite parts was the hot breakfast in the morning—eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, and good coffee. The staff kept everything well-stocked and checked in regularly to make sure guests had what they needed.
Another nice touch was the on-site Spyhouse Coffee shop—great for a late afternoon latte or a light snack. I also appreciated the underground heated parking, especially given the chilly Minnesota mornings. The fitness center was large and better equipped than most hotel gyms I’ve used. Overall, TownePlace Suites exceeded expectations for comfort, convenience, and service. Whether you’re visiting Mayo Clinic or just exploring downtown Rochester, this place offers everything you need for a smooth and relaxing stay.
