I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay at TownePlace Suites in New Hartford, NY. It’s unacceptable for a hotel to remain open during extensive renovations without properly informing guests in advance. Upon arrival, I was surprised to find the walls half-painted, creating an unfinished and unwelcoming atmosphere.
At check-in, I was asked if I needed a refrigerator because some of them were not functioning. Given that TownePlace Suites is designed for extended stays, I would expect all rooms to have working refrigerators. Since I was only staying for one night, I ultimately declined, but this should not have been an issue in the first place.
The lack of attention to cleanliness was also concerning. The bathroom toiletries had visible construction residue on the bottles, which raised questions about overall hygiene standards. What truly solidified my disappointment, however, was witnessing someone actively painting the dining area while guests were present.
It is incredibly poor judgment on the part of management to subject paying guests to such conditions. If renovations are necessary, the hotel should either close temporarily or, at the very least, inform guests ahead of time so they can make an informed decision. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that I will never stay at this hotel again.
