Ok, Deep Breath, hear me out. I have to express this. Maybe my stars just didn't line up for us on this visit to the city. My wife and i love coming to the city, and this occasion was for our 16th anniversary. First, my reservations were all messed up, like 2 hours on the phone and internet, trying to fix the reservationist error, not once but twice. Fast forward to when we arrive at the hotel for our special weekend and after a 3:30hr drive. We checked in, eager to rest, we finally got up to the room, and it was so hot we literally dropped our stuff shut the curtains and left. After dinner, we come back, and the ac is fighting to keep the room cool because it's not quite sufficient enough for the size. That night was so miserable we couldn't even sleep because it was too hot. My wife slept on the couch because that happened to be the direction the ac was blowing. We had to shut both bathroom doors to keep areas separate and put a towel at the bottom of the door because the bathroom was "sauna type hot" (Crazy). I soldiered it out on the bed, literally sweating, By the next evening, the ac finally had the room down to a wopping 76*, see pics... it was still warm but manageable, i guess.. I'd like to say it ended there, but it gets worse... we orderqqed a late room service meal. Food shows up, pop the lids off, and the charcuterie board had chunks of cheese that looked half eaten. Although it was good I felt like I was getting cheese from someone else's plate. Move on to the sandwich, I ate one half that tasted odd, so i opened the other half, and my heart dropped. "Just see the photos". And you know what they say about turning food back... Later that night my stomach was so upset and the room being so warm on top of that I about called it quits to go somewhere else, but I didn't want to put my wife through all that. Then there was a stench on the whole floor and they plugged some machine in that sounded like a vaccum and left it to run in the hall. After everything was said and done, we checked out, and I was going to chalk it up as one of those things. But it became really personal for me on the drive home when my wife seemed really bummed out. We had a great time outside of the hotel experience, but with everything that happened and spending about 1700 just at their site for room food and spa, im extremely discouraged with how this weekend turned out. I would've filed a complaint on site, but i didnt want to make a scene or make it any worse than it was... The pros are, really cool location and how the buildings connect. The views were nice.
