Feel set back into the 19th century in this hotel – from the outside – and enjoy comfortable modern rooms inside. We really liked this place for its ambience – it is one of the oldest continuously run hotels in Nevada - and the perfect location in the center of Carson City just across from the State Legislature building. Even if it is located directly on Main Street, the traffic did not bother us at all. Our room, located on the second floor and accessible either from Main Street or from the parking-lot across Curry Street, was comfortable, well equipped, and spacious with a fairly large sitting-room with 2 two-seater sofas, a coffee table and a writing-desk, a slightly separated bedroom, and a bathroom. A slight drawback, though, is the fact that due to the old structure the air conditioning is not always working perfectly, but with the fans provided it was tolerable though sometimes a tad warm during the nights, but most of the times cool enough. Another (minor) point of criticism: the queen-size bed had a mattress that was too soft for us [others might like it, though], and it was too close to the wall. The person sleeping on that side needed to get out by crawling to the foot end.
Checking in [self-check-in] was easy, and communication with Jennifer, our hostess, was always easily possible. She kept us up-to-date all the time, before and during our stay, and made us very welcome.
Our view: if you want to visit Carson City, this is the place to stay.
