Interesting layout, questionable historical designs. I was in town for a visit to several historical museums and a speaking engagement. I chose the Marriott because it is my choice hotel. Parking options were valet or meter. The meters are free starting Friday evening through Sunday, so we opted for the meter. We had easy access to restaurants, could walk to the Rosa Parks and Equal Justice Initiative Museums, and River, so it was a perfect location for us. However, when we checked into our room (225) a wire hanger was hanging on our lamp shade by the bed, the shower dispensers were broken and no longer hung on the bathroom shower wall, there were dark spots on our carpet, the sitting area in our suite was not set up, we had to ask for blankets, Kleenex and toilet tissue! When we wanted towels we initially (Friday evening) were told we had to come down to the lobby to collect them , so we stopped on Saturday evening to collect them, but a different clerk offered to bring them to our room.We we’re grateful. The thing that surprised me next was the design of our room. Our ceiling symbolic or that of the base of a ship and the window had a design of a pole that resembled a lynching pole. There is a lot of historical features in the building, but as a Black woman, I did not appreciate this one the most. Marriott you can and must do better!
