My husband and I have been renting cabins through Sliding Rick Cabins for the last 4 years. We’ve rented at least 4 times and have loved our fall trip every year. We had a reservation for the second time at A Cottage at Riverside which we were so looking forward to on October 12 to October 19, 2024.. Unfortunately we live on the West Coast of Florida and have recently endured Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton in a matter of 3 weeks. Our house flooded and became uninhabitable. We had to rent other living accommodations We’ve had to be prevsebt meeting with insurance claims adjusters and FEMA inspectors not to mention disposing of everything that was ruined which were most of our belongings. Sliding Rock Cabins and the owner of a Cottage at Riverside have been absolutely unforgiving and we are out roughly $2k. We tried to cancel in advance but it was not in enough time. They offered to open up our days to see if someone else might rent for the time we had booked. 2 of our 7 days were booked (weekends) and we will receive a credit for those two days. But we are losing the cost of the other 5 days. They would not provide a credit for a future stay at another time nor a refund for the 5 days. This is costing us nearly $2k. We are incredibly disappointed given tgese circumstances our of our control. I would absolutely stay away from A Cottage at Riverside. We have been told this decision resides with the individual cabin owner. They appear to be completely heartless while we are basically struggling day to day. Nothing wound have been better than being able to go on our planned vacation. The last 3 weeks have felt like 3 years and there is no end in sight. We’re living in a rental property while we still have to pay our mortgage. 85% to 90% of our personal belongings have been ruined and we are barely getting by. I highly doubt we will rent from Sliding Rock Cabins again but especially warn to stay away from the unforgiving, money hungry owner(s) of a Cottage at Riverside.
