My recent stay at Sheraton Elk Grove Chicago left much to be desired. Upon checking in, we were assigned a room on the first floor, and while the initial impression seemed fine, several issues quickly became apparent.
The double bed was unusually small for two people, making it uncomfortable for a restful sleep it was definitely not a queen size bed. The sitting chair in the room was broken, hanging precariously on only three legs. Worse still, the bedding was torn, and the bed itself was poorly made with visible stains, which was quite off-putting. We had requested a kettle for the room, but when it arrived, it was covered in dust, making it clear that the room hadn’t been properly maintained.
Additional maintenance issues were visible throughout the room. The TV furniture was damaged, with noticeable scrapes, and the room had an overall sense of neglect. While the view was acceptable, it was disappointing to be placed on the first floor, far from anything resembling a scenic vista.
We also encountered significant delays with the elevators, which were out of order for nearly a week. Even when functioning, it took upwards of 30-40 minutes to get a lift, which felt inexcusable for a hotel of this standard.
Unfortunately, these issues overshadowed what should have been a relaxing stay, and I would hesitate to return unless there’s a noticeable improvement in the quality of service and room maintenance.
