When we booked the hotel 6 months prior to our stay back in early Autumn 2024 due to it being a busy season autumn (on a third party site), it said there was a fridge + microwave. However they had done renovations and not updated the third party site, and we didn’t have a fridge! Along with having issues with some of the front desk staff, and with a window that did not close (so I would hear a lot of the traffic— we had to use a towel to block it). It’s a cute hotel but the main thing it has going for it was the location, and the car. Which the driver for us, Adam, was an absolute rockstar and is the reason why I didn’t drop this review further in rating. He even gave us a mini tour of Salem, including the Hocus Pocus locations! I hope as I post this he still works there. The housekeepers were quite friendly as well.
(And can’t forget the random maintenance above us when I was sleeping in a bit late from jetlag! They can’t control the apartments above us but, well… 10 in the morning wake up with hammers and saws was unpleasant when I’d finally fallen asleep at 6am. I won’t penalize them for that, but it was entirely unpleasant.)
Overall, location is 5/5, cleanliness 5/5, room is 2/5, external hotel amenities 5/5, and staff is 3/5, value for price is 2/5.
If you plan on staying in town in Salem and a lot of walking, it’s great for a weekend. But a long term stay, with a lack of refrigeration, some noise issues and front desk staff that aren’t willing to help when an issue arises? It gets a little less enticing. I hope they improve the rooms beyond purely aesthetics for it to be worth the egregious price.
