The exterior of this entire establishment does not look very impressive at first. There was lots of yard work going on and they could use a new paint to polish a bit. But at least our room is like completely brand new. All the furnitures, the cooking wears are shining. The layout of the room is also very efficient. The square footage is not on the large side but good enough. The checking in process was smooth and is easy to locate our room. The morning breakfast is standard and nothing to complain about. An Absolute Gem!!!! Make this the place you stay!!! For years I've been dealing with the typical "hum-drum" hotels in the Ventura area, but on this particular extended stay, the Residence Inn - River Ridge was recommended by a colleague. It has been an amazing stay and I have yet to find even the slightest complaint I could lodge against this facility when compared to any other hotel in the area. First, let's get the biggest note out of the way. When making reservations for accommodations for over 100+ people, it's never easy to find a place that can put them all in one spot, and support them with even basic amenities. But this facility is 100-percent geared towards large groups of travelers. There are sufficient rooms here for more than what we needed, and we never felt as though we were encroaching upon each-other. That, in-and-of itself is amazing. I want to offer major kudos specifically to Marissa, James, Diane, and the entire Residence Inn crew for getting us in quickly, and for taking great care of our group for our multi-month stay. For the facility itself, there are several key factors for making this your "must stay" location for your next vacation or business trip to Ventura County. For starters, the rooms are as spacious as you can find. Even compared to other Residence Inn facilities, this place has comfortable space. Everything from the green areas between the 8-room buildings, to the pool areas and main building, there is ample room. That is quite the achievement for any lodging facility in California! The grounds are meticulously maintained, the pools are cleaned frequently by trained professionals, the lighting and security are abundant and provide an air of safety. The beautiful main building overlooks the River Ridge golf course, and many of the rooms have a fairway view that adds to the serenity of the property. I was granted one of the penthouse suites, which overlooked the golf course. In the penthouse suites (of the 30 or so buildings, each has 2 penthouse suites), the room was abundantly spacious, with two queen sized beds in separate rooms. Each room was afforded its own bathroom. The room was complete with a sofa and arm chair, fireplace, kitchenette, and dining table. The rooms themselves were extremely comfortable - more on that in a moment. All in all, the space was extremely comfortable and welcoming. As far as the dated appearance goes, this whole facility is in the process of getting an update. All of the rooms are being upgraded to befit a more luxurious hotel than the photos I have attached would suggest. Modern paint, furnishings, and finishes will adorn the remodeled rooms. The staff is otherworldly wonderful. From Marissa, the Director of Sales, to Diane the Front Desk Manager, on down to the extremely friendly and polite room service and maintenance staff, I was always greeted with a smile and a friendly salutation. This place achieves Disney-level customer service, and it must not go unremarked. For over 100 days our stay has been nearly perfect, definitely within the limits of the term "sublime". When I coordinate the lodging for this many people, I'll usually find a bevvy of complaints and litany of nick-picks from people who maintain a variety of high standards. However, even as the one responsible for handling such complaints, I only ever received minor complaints from my group, all of which were handled immediately by the staff. This does speak to the tremendously wonderful customer service, the accommodations, and the amenities available here. In summary, if you are looking for a great place to hang your hat, be it for one weekend or several months, you cannot go wrong with investing in a room at the Residence Inn River Ridge. It's been worth every penny and I absolutely plan on returning to here exclusively when I return in the future. P.S. A great deal of construction/restoration/renewal going on here. Many of the amenities are not available or limited. The rooms have issues that you would see with new construction. Leaks, unfinished walls, flooring, etc. Not great sound protection - sounds like a herd of stomping cheerleaders every time someone walks up the stairs. This is a big complex, spread out across five or six parking lots. Construction is problem. I've had one flat tire and folks around me have had many more. Not close to any restaurants or groceries. Rooms are big but poorly laid out. One big room with bed in the living room. No doors or half walls. So as couple it is all awake or all asleep - no possibility of keeping quiet for partner still sleeping. I just can't recommend this site for a long term stay. May be one or two nights - but overall not great room layouts and construction are the huge negatives at this property. The staff is generally helpful but they just don't have the authority or means to fix issues in every room, every day. Not their issue - more about the general availability of support staff (plumbers, handi-man, etc.). Again no one is doing anything bad - just lots of problems with a renovation. The breakfast is typical gluten heavy with rolls, bread, muffins, eggs, etc. Very little options available that are gluten free. Always an issue with Res Inn breakfasts. I haven't seen any big parties or the beer can piles mentioned in other reviews - but i do hear the parties at night. But they must be cleaned up by the time i leave for work. What a terrible experience. We tried to stay here as a young family and we did not feel safe. Beer cans all around the hot tub. Everything under construction. A bunch of rundown buildings next to busy roads. Do your family a favor, keep driving. Lots of better choices both north and south. Room was dirty with dated furniture. Trash left behind on mantle. Downstairs shower head would not work. Upstairs bathroom had wet towels left behind. Smelled musty and everything was dusty. Outside there was dirt on the sidewalks making it hard to walk on the concrete and weeds everywhere. Maybe they are renovating? Still no excuse for poor maintenance of rooms. We were grossed out. We think they have been in the process of remodeling this very large Residence Inn. However, we got several rooms for a family event and we were put in the rooms that still needed to be remodeled which made up about a third of the compound. We didn't have hair dryers. we didn't have toaster. The bathroom doors didn't work. The dishwasher did not work nor did the garbage disposals. Even the phones didn't work and we had to ask for silverware. It was absolutely terrible. Every time we would ask for help, the staff was fabulous and Tried to send somebody to address the problem quickly but it was dirty and rusty with cigarette butts outside the door. If you're gonna stay here, please do not let them put you in buildings like 28,29 or 15,16 17,18, and many more buildings that are still needing to be renovated. awful. Awful. I was here for a quick overnight stay on our way down south. The gentleman at the reception desk was incredibly kind and helpful. Our room was clean and well taken care of. Our boys enjoyed the saltwater swimming pool and it was nice to sit in the cover cabana area while the swam. Huge property at this apartment like hotel. Free breakfast was awesome! Great eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, oatmeal and cereal bar, fresh fruit, and plenty of pastry items! We would definitely stay here again, it was so nice to have room to spread out and be comfortable! First and foremost, which will bring me back, is all the employees I dealt with were fantastic! I was in a new room. I had to call because the lights kept coming on in the main room due to the motion detector. It picked up motion when I was in bed. It was impossible for me to turn the lights off, to turn the motion detector function off. The solution was to send someone to my room at 10 PM to put black tape over the motion detector. The other motion detectors had the same issue; I just didn't turn the kitchen lights or the bathroom lights on while in bed! The toilet paper holder was coming off the wall. One of the hallway closet doors would not close. The bathroom sink faucet was not aligned correctly. When you turned the faucet off, the water ran back under the faucet and created a puddle on the counter between the faucet and the sink. The base of the wall next to the front door, in the main room, didn't seem to be straight. Breakfast (eggs and sausage) on the second morning was cold.
