My fiance and I checked in around 9pm on 12/27/24 to get some sleep before getting back on the road. Room 137 had plaster dust on the floor like someone had been working on the room. The sink wasn't clean and the sheets and pillow cases looked liked they hadn't been changed. We were so exhausted so we decided to go to Walmart to buy a sheet and comforter to put on the bed so we could just get some rest. As we were sleeping, we were awakened at 5:20am by a gigantic picture, above the bed, crashing down on us!!!! It was so heavy it knocked the headboard off the railing also!! There was glass and plaster dust on us and glass all over the floor!! We immediately packed our things and went to the office to tell the staff. He stared at us like we were speaking a foreign language and just kept asking, "so, are you all checking out?" There was NO apology, No offer for another room, NO offer for a refund, NOTHING!!!!!! When I asked about a refund, I was told a manager would be calling us when they come in at 10am. Fast forward, we DID NOT receive a call so I call them. We were told there would be no refund for the room, only a refund of the deposit because the maintenance man and management determined we had to do something to make the picture fall!!!!!!!! My chest is still hurting from being awakened abruptly from my sleep in that manner. I thought the ceiling was falling in on us or something!!! This is ridiculous and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL for them to blame us and not take accountability!!! STAY HERE AT YOUR OWN RiSK!!!! It is a trashy, old, motel that doesn't need to be in business. I will be contacting DBPR and other appropriate counsel to take care of this matter!
