A lovely new property, beautifully decorated, in a quiet & convenient location in Cambridge. Everything is fully remote and electronic from room codes to communication. It was a seamless check-in and check out so from that point of view, everything was great.
There are a few drawbacks, however: the room is very small, there is only one folding luggage rack for one suitcase There is a tiny bar on the wall for hanging clothes, though there are ample hangers. The clothes drape over the heating unit - Because there is barely any room on that tiny piece of wall between window and radiator. There is very little surface space. The rooms look bigger in the wide angle photographs than they actually are. From the description & price, I was expecting a more ample, generous room, and a larger bathroom; again, with more surface space and areas to hang towels.
There is a kettle in the room with some mugs and instant coffee, which is pleasant though we did not use it. In the Common Room downstairs there is a Nespresso machine which can make a variety of coffee, however, they only have non refrigerated nondairy coffee creamers, which are chemicals in oil sealed in a small small plastic cup. While there is a small refrigerator, it is empty … there is no milk, there is no cream, no almond milk… The room was $200 a night. For this price you could have some milk in the refrigerator. You could even get half-and-half in those small plastic containers that do not need to be refrigerated. However, for the coffee or tea, there is only highly processed sugary oil. it is a weird discrepancy to have a high-end espresso maker, and then this undesirable coffee mate creamers which are better suited for areas where no refrigeration exists (like cheaper hotels or truck stops).
The common area is lovely, there is a small gas fire, and four comfy armchairs However, if someone else is using that common area, there is no room for a second party; and even a single person would feel like they are intruding. There is a very nice deck area outside, which has two additional seating areas, but in the winter this is unusable.
If you are a group taking several rooms in this hotel, that would be a very nice use of the property. You would feel like you have your own house. On the other hand if you are just taking one room, and there are a lot of people who are traveling together taking the other rooms, you may feel like you are intruding on their gatherings. Also, the walls are a little thin and you can hear people other rooms fairly easily.
Overall, the hotel was very pleasant and pretty, and had a high-end feel. There are a few details like the pantry, which need addressing In order to make the hotel worthy of five stars. There is self parking which we did not use, but it seemed very convenient. The rooms are surprisingly small, much smaller than expected.
