Read MoreFor starters, I will talk about the positive things. The location is prime. you’re right near the waterfront and close to the cruise docking centre. There are many tasty restaurants in the area and it’s a clean safe place to walk. The front counter seemed pleasant enough. From the outside the building has a character looking like maybe early 1900s and with nice stonework and well kept greenery.
Now for the bad. The bed was not ridiculously uncomfortable, but it’s certainly old and I woke up with a few pains in my back and hip. The sheets seem fairly clean, but there’s still some stains in them that they need to get out with some bleach or something. The walls are filthy. There are stains everywhere. It looks like poop in the corner. One screen window is missing the other one is ripped and bent. The floors look fairly new and yet one of the floorboards is already cracked and raised up. The baseboards are all bent and out of shape and somewhat stained in places. The furnishings are not atrocious, but they could use some newer items perhaps. The pool seems closed and the back breakfast area is closed which questions the cleanliness of the whole facility. Two of us in our room we only had one hand towel, which is odd. Only one of the beds had a blanket on it. I asked for a towel at the front entry and they gave me a bathmat instead. The lampshades are atrocious filthy. The pillows are fairly comfortable. The bath is an abomination. I feel like it’s been held together by mould and rotting items. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but it’s certainly not a place that I feel like I can come out of cleaner than I went in. There wasn’t even a smoke alarm in the room, just an empty area for it. They try to keep the place clean. I’ll be honest. It looks like they do. But it’s just so rundown and needs a major overhaul the whole place. They claim to be a 2 star hotel, and I would say this is accurate, but the prices seem to reflect a three or four star. Because of the location it’s got lots of potential. Try staying somewhere else next time.
