But there are too many things that need work for this property to rate more than three stars, especially considering that it is very expensive. I will start off by saying that 90% of the staff that I interacted with were very kind and accommodating, there were a handful who seemed annoyed to talk to me, but for the majority, all of the staff went above and beyond. The location is great with easy access to the beach and only a short drive into the main part of Port A. The pool is the main draw but is showing its age with crumbling corners, broken tile, etc. There was black mold in the shower in our condo, a huge crack in the bottom of the pool that they had covered with a lounge chair with umbrella weights on top. One of the days the pool was filthy – just so much debris and sand and dirt and trash, I don’t know what was going on. When we checked in, we were given operating hours for the restaurant, slide & poolside bar, and none of those hours were correct. It was disappointing when they had told us when we checked in that the bar would open, or the restaurant, or the slide at a specific time, and they actually wound up opening a couple hours later, with the slide it was open just randomly and not at the times quoted at all. My son would ask “when does the slide open?” and was told “we don’t know”. The poolside bar was a big draw to this place and it was nice, minus the bazillion bees, but only 1 bartender meant you waited minimum of 20 mins for 1 drink. Then there was trash, there was just trash everywhere, overflowing trash cans outside of all of the buildings, stinky standing water with floating trash everywhere, on the hallway leading up to the entrance to our condo there were chicken wing bones covered in bugs, just gross. The ladies poolside bathroom is a smell I will never forget, and not in a good way. The whole place needs to be power washed. The elevator in our building was down one day, which was hard for my 70 year mother. There were several empty lifeguard chairs, which was concerning with small kids. The construction didn’t bother me too much, but was woken up super early everyday with construction noise. Overall we made the best of it but I hope they take this renovation opportunity to really make this place a quality resort that will have amenities that the staff can use to ensure guests have five star stays - especially when you drop $400-$500 a night.
