Read MoreI made the mistake of not skimming through the reviews written by others, as the location seemed too good to pass up. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its proximity to the beach and the bus stops right at the entrance.
When we first arrived at the lobby, it immediately became clear that it did not match the pictures posted in the hotel listing. Hoping that maybe only the lobby was outdated, we thought the rooms might be better. However, when we entered the room, it reeked of bleach and cleaning products. The room was dim, and the entire bedroom only had one desk lamp. As I pulled the curtains to let some sunlight in, a cockroach crawled out, scaring us badly. We immediately went back to the lobby to request a different room. The receptionist apologized and kindly offered us a different room.
The second room was a little brighter, but the amenities were peeling, broken, and moldy. The water pressure was weak, and it never seemed to get hot. I had to wear my flip flops into the shower because I was afraid of having my bare feet touch the ground. We then asked if it was possible to be moved to another room. The third room we were given was on a higher floor and was much bigger and brighter. Everything seemed fine at first. However, when nighttime came, we noticed that the nightclubs downstairs were so loud that the thin windows made the whole room feel like it was vibrating. Soon after, we found a cockroach trying to climb into the cap of my water bottle next to the nightstand. I had to kill it, or I wouldn't have been able to sleep. It was disgusting. The next day, we found two more (probably even more) crawling around but decided to ignore them since they weren't near the bed area.
Overall, the entire experience was uncomfortable and made me want to go home. Perhaps it’s common for hotels in this area to have bugs, but the hotel should do a better job of maintaining and updating the rooms. This stay taught me how deceiving the photos posted can be and how important it is to pay more attention to the reviews, as these problems are still persisting today.
