my 2 year old, husband and myself were essentially stranded in DFW after our flight because the first hotel we originally reserved a room in screwed us over. We tried to get a room at the Motel 6 right next door and they were booked, so we called an agent and they told us about this "amazing" property they had elsewhere. It was about midnight at this point, we were tired and frustrated, it was cheap, so we just went with it. We could have made a roughly 3 hour drive back home, but it wasn't the best idea. We got to this location and from the outside it seems normal. There were no sketchy individuals outside, and the security guard was the only one outside walking around the building. As sooooooon as I went inside I was blasted by the smell of weed and heavy incense lol. Ok, great start. The guy behind the counter wasn't rude or anything, he just looked like and talked like he was rather high or just really tired. There was a random dude hanging out down there who didn't even look up from his phone and it looks like the downstiars area might be going through some slight renovations?? So from just driving through the area to get there I told my husband to just take everything out of the car, even the unseen stuff in the trunk because I didn't want to worry about our car getting broken in to. I grabbed my baby and as quickly as humanly possible got upstairs and to our room.
Room : unpon first glance I was a bit worried. I liked that there was hard wood floor and not carpet, and the beds looked ok. My husband and me tore that bed apart to make sure there were no bugs, and while the matresses have seen way better days, there were no bugs. The sheets were clean, honestly seemed like they were just cleaned that day. The bathroom was also clean. Didn't turn the tv on or anything, as soon as i knew the beds were good I put the baby down and we both went to sleep. Didn't have any issues with loud noises, anyone knocking on our door trying to get drugs, no noise from the outside. The next morning we woke up at like 7AM. I noticed two things I had not noticed before. 1. there was like....blood? In the fridge. It wasn't a lot, and idk maybe it was blood red PAINT? But still threw me off. It was nice there was a fridge though because we did have perishable foods we brought back from our trip that needed to be kept cold. All our stuff was in a cooler bag and idk I guess my husband didn't notice or care the night before when he put the bag in the fridge. 2. there was gang related words etched into the mirror and something scribbled on the sink that said Becky sucks d*. Real classy. We left shortly after waking up and got out as quick as possible.
The neighborhood is really sketchy and I didn't feel safe. If I had read reviews prior, I probably would have just opted to drive home tbh. I was just put off because I had my two year old with me. If it was just me and my husband I wouldn't have cared much or felt so anxious. Stay here if you need just a quick place to rest, but def nor family friendly. Only saving grace here is that the beds and bathroom were clean. We saw no roaches, all our lights worked as did our AC, and they helped us in a pinch when the much higher rated hotel we originally got, dropped the ball. Which, if you are interested in what hotel that was, take a look at my other reviews.
