No issue with the cleanliness or anything else with the rooms or friendliness of check-in staff, but the breakfast process is needlessly complicated and frustrating. We were given a “breakfast voucher” at check-in with no explanation. I figure this was my family’s pass to get free breakfast, to prove we paid for a hotel room. My sister who was also staying there, happened to mention to me that their SELF SERVE HOTEL BREAKFAST is $15 per person over the age of 12 (but no more than 2 kids under 12 per group can eat free) and the breakfast voucher only covers ONE person. Lucky for me it was only me and my 2 kids under 12, so our cost was covered, but my sister and her 2 older boys didn’t meet us for breakfast because they didn’t want to pay $30 for mediocre hotel breakfast. A waiter came to our table after we served and seated ourselves and asked for my breakfast voucher. About 20 minutes later he asked us if we wanted drinks, we got waters. We got up to leave after eating and he ran to the table and told us he needed us to sit and wait. He brought us the “check” with a tip line and everything and I didn’t bring a card or cash for that because I knew my breakfast would be free. Super awkward. Hampton Inn offers free breakfasts for every guest, using the honor system. You go to the lobby, serve yourself as much food as you want, with a self serve drink machine right there by the food, and leave. Completely uncomplicated. I highly recommend Holiday Inn makes things easier for their guests AND themselves, and does the same.
