Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience with the outdoor areas. Both nights of our stay, a large group of teenagers who clearly were not hotel guests took over the jacuzzi and firepit area. They were smoking marijuana, cursing loudly, and being very disruptive from about 7 pm until 10 pm. The first night, maintenance only asked them to stop smoking — they were not removed — and the group left only when the outdoor area closed at 10 pm. The next evening, the same group returned and behaved the same way. I called the front desk and maintenance again, but nothing was done. At one point, one of the kids even tried to use the firepit to light a joint.
Because of this, we couldn’t enjoy the outdoor firepit area at all, and we saw families with children walk out only to turn right back inside. I also called the hotel afterward and asked to speak with the General Manager. My call was transferred to Alex, the Assistant GM, who was extremely passive aggressive and claimed the group was kicked out the first night — which was absolutely not true.
If you’re traveling with kids or want to enjoy the outdoor amenities in the evening, I would not recommend this hotel. It’s unfortunate, because the property itself is beautiful and the staff inside the hotel was great, but the lack of enforcement outside and poor management response were a real downside.
