My daughter and I stayed here this past weekend for 2 nights. I shared this with the General Manager, Jennifer Pool, and she seemed less than interested in our feedback and review, offering 10,000 Hilton Honors points for our experience, even though Hilton offers a "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" or "Hilton Promise" I did request a refund, but was not taken seriously for any of the concerns and or feedback provided.
1) Pool smelled like dirty feet and fungus - the odor lingered on the towels back in the room, making our entire room smell this way as well. It was almost unbearable Friday night and the Saturday morning. This odor was due to the very high levels of Chloramine in the pool water - which happens when chlorine reacts to ammonia from urine and sweat! This is a health hazard for people to inhale or to absorb through skin - can cause respiratory issues (especially if a person has asthma), skin irritation and rash, and burning eyes.
2) The bathroom faucet in our room 421 was placed so awkwardly to the right of the sink and it was difficult to even wash hands - it seemed like it was only 2 inches from the side of the sink.
3) The door to the shower did not allow a person to slide away from the shower head and control handle so in order to turn the shower on you had to step inside of the shower and get sprayed with water (cold water) - this was super annoying and just because of the cold water shock, but also for someone who does not want to get his/her hair wet, but just wants to take a quick shower. It is also a safety concern. If someone does turn the water on in the shower, waits a few minutes for it to warm up before stepping into the shower, the temperature could be scalding hot, so a person would have to reach through the scalding hot water to adjust the water temperature, especially concerning for kids.
4) The "hot" water down in the lobby was never actually "hot" the 3x I used it (once in the evening to try to make tea and 2 times in the mid-mornings to make tea. I did not have time to wait for someone to go and 'make' hot water so I did not mention it when I was there.
5) Saturday morning when we were still sleeping, there were 2 times when the room shook -- it felt like and sounded like there was a helicopter that landed on the roof (we were on the 4th floor) -- both times this happened it literally shook the entire room and beds, waking us up twice - both times it lasted for about 3-5 minutes. I still have no idea why the floor was vibrating - very odd.
6) The temperature of the mini-frig was so cold it froze and ruined most of our food that we had brought -- we did not realize the temperature was set so low when we first checked into the room, as there was no temperature reading, only a dial with numbers on it. This was a MAJOR disappointment b/c I had brought organic coconut water and organic fruit (strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and cherries) for us to eat for breakfast in the mornings - only to wake up to frozen everything!
7) This is considered a 2-2.5 star hotel, however, I paid $446 for the 2 nights which is more than double the price of other same-level hotels in the same location.
