The elevator was broken and the gym unavailable, but the bigger issue was the front desk—especially Mary (dark long hair), who was unfriendly all week. I can back for another week in hotel. Where she continually seemed to not like me…I was on dining area, and saw her whispered to a coworker, who told me “our manager wants you to know the fire alarm has been going off in your room all day and we know you’ve been smoking.”
Absolutely NOT!!!
This is a work trip, and that would never happen. My small dog was alone in the room from 7 a.m.–5 p.m. while I was away at work. They ended up replacing the smoke detector, so clearly it was faulty—likely from a previous guest. Instead of explaining, they implied I was smoking when I wasn’t even there, which felt unfair and embarrassing.
About ten minutes later, the younger staff member apologized, which I appreciated. When I spoke to the manager a couple of days later, he barely apologized and kept saying that detector had smelled—not the room.
Overall, it was handled poorly and left me shocked. I work for a large company that books here often—losing our business would hurt them more than me.
