My partner and I travel for work. He has stayed in Extended Stay America hotels all across the country for almost 2 years, I just recently joined him in his travels. This Extended Stay in Shawnee Mission has turned us away from ever staying in Extended Stay Americas ever again.
The customer service at this establishment is nothing but appalling. A woman named Sasha was absolutely hostile and aggressive for NO REASON. Only after reading recent reviews have we learned her last name, so she has a history of treating tenants in this manner.
My partner went up front to rent a vacuum & get more toilet paper. He stated that Sasha was short & rude, obviously irritated. She handed over the vacuum and 1 roll of toilet paper. When he asked if we could get another one, she responded that only "1 roll per room", which would be fine if she didn't say it with the utmost irritation in her voice.
My partner made a comment about a little customer service going a long way in response to her attitude and Sasha responded with "If you don't like it, you can move out". My partner responded to THAT with "I'm not moving out, I'll just leave a bad review." to which Sasha immediately snapped, took the vacuum back and told him that we have until 9pm to move out. So, she kicked us out for calling out her shitty attitude. Which now that we see the previous reviews of her shitty behavior, do we see why she snapped.
When my partner came back into the room and told me what happened, I went up front to try and de-escalate the situation and find out what happened from their side while he called corporate.
When I walked up to the desk I was greeted by Sasha with a very unenthusiastic "can I help you" without even looking at me. I politely asked if she was the person that was helping my partner with the vacuum, to which she immediately became hostile and told me we had until 9pm to move out. I said, "I'm just trying to find out what happened" to which she just kept repeating "you have until 9pm to move out" aggressively.
Since I didn't immediately leave, she decided that we needed to move out now or she was going to bar me from my room and promptly called the police on me stating that we were refusing to leave (which we weren't). She simply kept talking over me, getting louder and louder. I asked if she was okay because I could see she was physically shaking and she got even more hostile towards me.
When the police showed up, they were calm, and we had no issues with them. They were polite and stayed to make sure we could get our stuff and leave peacefully without her coming at us even more.
Not once did I raise my voice or be rude to her, I asked for a manager to which she ignored. There was also a man sitting in the armchair up front as well, another tenant, that said and did nothing but sit there the whole time.
Once the police were there she yelled "and you have a dog that isn't in the system so you can get out RIGHT NOW"
When I tried telling her that he is my SERVICE DOG and we brought him up here when we checked in, she just kept yelling over me.
They also refuse to refund us for the extra week we had paid for because they say they didn't have my dog on the account. If the young lady did not add him to the account, how is that our fault? If that's the case, why did we have a "Pet Inside" magnet on our door?
Sasha obviously has a history of this which is apparent by the previous review(s) naming her specifically and her hostile behavior, and the fact that she hasn't already been fired is astounding to me.
We are currently escalating the issue to corporate to get our week of rent back. If the owner reads this, please take into consideration that they are CHARGING us for my SERVICE DOG by refusing to give us our refund stating the dog as the reason. There is no damage to the room either; I have video proof of that.
To any union members reading this, stay FAR AWAY unless Sasha is removed from the company. Sasha literally caused me to have a PTSD episode and has cost us over $1,000 in room rent due to the last-minute move out and lack of refund.
