The room was moderately cleaned at best. The tub was dirty, and the bathroom door wouldn’t even close properly. The carpets in the room (and throughout the hotel) were stained, making the space feel poorly maintained. We ended up borrowing a vacuum from the cleaning staff to clean our own room! The bed linens were also questionable, which didn’t inspire much confidence.
The hotel feels very dated and poorly maintained. The pool area was unkempt, adding to the impression that upkeep is not a priority here.
While breakfast was included with our room, you have to specifically ask the front desk for vouchers—something they don’t proactively inform you of at check-in. The buffet itself was average and nothing to write home about.
The front desk staff were polite but not particularly welcoming or cheerful. They were helpful when asked, but the overall vibe was lackluster. Additionally, the $300 deposit on a prepaid room was an unpleasant surprise and felt excessive.
The airport shuttle is convenient but not ideal. It’s an “on-call” service in a small van with about 10 seats, and it serves multiple hotels. This means it can get overcrowded quickly, with some passengers forced to stand in a very tight space. However, we were grateful to have the shuttle and avoid using Uber. We were able to get on the shuttle within about 20 minutes after arriving and getting our bags.
Overall, the DoubleTree El Segundo works if you’re looking for a convenient short stay near the airport, but the cleanliness, maintenance, and general quality fall far below expectations. Definitely not what you’d expect from the DoubleTree brand.
