When looking on-line for a nice place to stay in West Palm Beach for a trip the week of July 6th, 2025, I chose the Courtyard by the West Palm Beach Airport. The pictures looked very nice, the pool inviting and the rooms acceptable. What I found was something quite different. I used points for my stay and paid far too many points for the condition of this property.
The Room (an upgrade due to my Marriott status) was next to an expressway, and it was necessary to run a sound app each evening to drown out the noise from trucks, cars and police sirens. When I said something to the front desk on day two of my five-day trip, in fairness, they offered to move me down the hall. I doubt it would have helped to be an additional 30 feet away from the expressway, so I stayed where I was rather than to pack and unpack my bags again. Here are some things that were wrong:
If you stay at this hotel, each time you log onto Netflix, Prime Video or other streaming services, when you power off the small 40-inch TV, it loses your Login credentials. In other words, you have to go through the laborious process of login each time you turn off the TV. The Manager said it's a choice they made despite the fact it is an inconvenience to its customers. Other Marriott properties don't do this that I have stayed at. In addition, on two separate occasions in a 5-day period, while watching Netflix, the TV suddenly powered down and I had to turn it back on and go thru the Login process all over again using the remote control. This is painful (if you have a long password) and totally unnecessary.
My internet Wi-Fi connection was severed twice during my stay and a technician sent to my room examined my Wi-Fi connection but didn't find any technical issues.
The Motel Parking Lot is NOT well lit at night, and I encountered homeless people hanging out on the street by the entryway to this Courtyard panhandling for money.
The carpeting is so old and disgusting that housekeeping/maintenance staff use a "Floral Spray or powder" on the carpeting in the hallways to mask the scent of what must only be an unfavorable smell in the dingy blue/grey carpeting. If you close your eyes and take a breath, you think you are in a flower shop with the strong fragrant smell of dying flowers.
Upon check-in, I opened my patio door to see the view (of the expressway), I noticed that my screen door had fallen off its tracks at some point prior to my unpacking and it was leaning up against the railing. (See Photograph)
On the side of my well used bed was an LED light and attached mirror. It was loose from its mounting bracket during my stay. If you push the button to turn on the light, the entire light fixtures moves. (See Attached Photo) I reported this and the patio screen to the front desk clerk at checkout in hopes of a repair so the next guest would not have to put up with these issues.
According to Crystal, the Manager, the Hotel will undergo a major renovation beginning sometime in August 2025. My suggestion to you is this, DO NOT STAY at this run-down hotel until it is up to Marriott standards. I am surprised that Marriott has allowed the investors who own the building to pocket profits and allow it to deteriorate to its current condition. This is a Marriott property for God's sake, not a Motel 6 (No Offense intended to Motel 6.) Shame on you Marriott. But, as I said, the employees are all very nice. That is the only redeeming quality at this hotel/motel.
