We arrived in the late afternoon. From the moment we walked into the room, I was regretting my decision booking at Candlewood. The room was awfully humid, and the sheets felt very moist because of it. We set our bags on the bed and began to unpack until something caught my eye on the ceiling. Some silverfish were crawling on the ceiling over the bed. I quickly grabbed a rag that was left on the kitchenette and began to knock them down and squish them. Thankfully I had the foresight to capture one and grab a picture of it in case I needed to bring it up at the front desk. Against our better judgment, we decided the silverfish alone were not enough to seek out another room, and we’d began to put away our belongings.
A few hours later, I got up to use the bathroom one last time before bed. I flipped on the light to the bathroom and to my shock, a CLUSTER of roaches were scattering all over the floor. I freaked out and immediately started crushing them as fast as I could. I really didn’t want to startle my wife who was already in bed, so I disposed of the ones I managed to kill in the toilet before I realized I could not let her sleep in this room. I managed to take a picture of one of the crushed roaches to bring to the front desk.
The woman there was nice, but totally unprepared to deal with helping me in this situation. I was not offered another room, and was told I had already checked in and the system would not allow a refund. The only thing she could offer me was that my information would be passed on to a manager the following day. We left the hotel just a couple of hours after getting there and went back to our hot, but bug free home. I never got a follow up from anyone there, and when I tried calling them about when I could speak with a manager, they didn’t know when one would be there at all. Completely offered no help or sympathy at this point. I sent an email through the booking agency but it is still pending.
