When I used to live over in Golden, I visited UC Health Urgent care a few times. The building is super clean, accessible, and the ladies at the front desk are wonderful. Sometimes, I think they have a really hard job, because they are dealing with people who are already feeling down or tired. When you are sick, your bandwidth, patience, hearing, or even ability to communicate might be impaired. So, I honestly think the level of compassion and care from the front desk folks is incredibly important. Anyway, they are!
Sara Thompson, PA-C is the one who saw me the few times I visited, and Clark Zimmerman, MD saw me at my last visit. Both of them are equally OUTSTANDING. It makes sense to me, that they both share so many similar qualities, but it's striking when you find this level of care, attention, compassion, and expertise in the same facility.
Ms. Thompson always really listened to me, offered tests when need, and explained all the variables to me. It helped a lot to know what was going on and be given a guidepost of what to expect (if I got better) or what to do (if I got worse). She is a very unique individual, and I am guessing that she must meditate or just be incredibly well balanced because the one word I would use to describe her is "present."
In my early 30s, when living in Seattle, I went 6 months with undiagnosed kidney stones, and due to antibiotic overprescription for uti's, I ended up getting c-diff which nearly killed me. I'm an excellent communicator and advocate for myself, so when I tell you that "present" is good - I mean it! It can literally save your life. It is a gift when someone really listens, and I guess that is what I appreciate most about Ms. Thompson. I think of the statistics that I have read about quality of care based on race or gender. It makes me feel really good to know that there are people like her in the world, in the medical profession, who clearly are not biased or assumptive. She is a gift.
I saw Dr. Zimmerman once, and it also was one of the best visits I've ever had. We discussed a few of my concerns, based on some of my health conditions. He gave me such incredible and kind guidance.
So, overall, if you live in this area, you are very lucky to be treated by these folks. Hopefully you won't need help, but if you do, you are in outstanding hands.
