I started taking Zumba Gold classes here. Lots of fun and gets the heart rate going. “Gold” means it’s a less intense workout. Perfect for seniors. The instructor, Barbara, is excellent at providing both kinesthetic and verbal cues. (That is, she models the moves, but also explains them with words.) The playlist is an excellent mix of Salsa, Latin, Pop, and R&B. Because of an old injury, I’ve always been hesitant to join a gym. My fears evaporated from my first visit. I’ve been treated very well with kindness and respect by everyone. The Fitness Edge provides:
+ Classes almost every day. Some for seniors such as Zumba Gold (Th & Sa, modified dance aerobics), Gentle Yoga (Mo, We, Fr), and Aging Circuit (Mo thru Friday, gym equipment)
+ Twice-monthly orientations: Trainer Michael on the second Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. or trainer Dan on the last Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
+ Plus classes for regular clients who want a challenging workout Mo thru Sa that includes cycling/spin, circuit, yoga, “body combat”
+ Very well-quipped main floor with weight machines, free weights, elliptical, and indoor cycles.
+ Personal trainers available with costs starting at $95 for 1-hour sessions and $85 for 30-minute sessions (with discounts for contracting more than 12 sessions)
+ Some special classes have an additional fee, but most classes are included with the monthly membership.
+ Great mobile app for booking classes. Key fob to scan when checking in.
+ When class schedules change, the app is updated promptly.
PS: I totally respect that there are serious body builders who use this gym. I’m here to get stronger and more flexible. There is room for everybody.
