I scheduled a virtual appointment in early September to set up a sleep study. I was on hold for almost an hour and had to speak with them 3 times to make sure the appointment was still set up with Dr. J. He did apologize and said there were technical difficulties, I get it. After the appointment I went to pick up my at home sleep study kit about a week later. I then had to wait over a month for my follow up appointment to go over my results and do the fitting because they had no availability. When I was finally able to have my appointment I was told that I would have to pay $70+ plus per month for an RPM cellular monitoring service in order for my machine to track compliance for insurance, which insurance does not pay for. This seemed odd because I know many people who use CPAP's and none told me about this cost and most said theirs hooked up to wifi or bluetooth. After my appointment I spoke with my boss and coworker, both are patients of this specific sleep center and have the same insurance plan as me, and both received their CPAP's within the last 2 months, the same machine as well, and neither had to pay a monthly service fee. Neither of their machines are hooked up to a cellular service either. I called and was informed this is a new requirement for new patients and there is no other option and if I did not pay the service fee monthly then they would have to expel me from the practice. Less than 24 hours of me receiving my CPAP I returned it without one use. I will be using another practice to treat my sleep apnea because this place just wants to make money, and that is their main motive. The reason insurance doesn't pay for the service is because it is not essential or necessary for the proper operation of the CPAP. Their charges are nothing more than the BS services used car dealerships tack on to their vehicles to squeeze what they can out of their customers. Do better.
