Do not go here if you aren’t rich. They WILL send your bill to Collections EVEN IF YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO CONTEST IT! I came here for extreme abdominal pain. Tried to give my insurance card but they said don’t worry about it. I was taken to a cot and asked to leave a urine sample. I started worrying about my insurance and the cost despite how painful my stomach was I was stressed. I told the nurse I was worried and that I looked up the insurance and it wasn’t clear so I would have to leave. I started crying because of the pain. I asked them to throw away the Urine sample. A month later I got a bill for $1950. The exact reason I left and didn’t get treatment. I did NOT speak to a doctor once. Just a nurse. She did not prescribe me anything or provide any care. I tried fighting the bill with dignity health their health biller. They began calling me incessantly. I fought with them from October 2023 to December 24th 2024. They continued to give me the run around for my itemized bill. Said they’d send it. Then would ask for me to fill out paperwork. I filled it out. Sent it in. Waited for a week. Called again. They said they never got it. I did it again. Faxed it this time. Called again. They said they would call back when they reached a decision. I told them I still needed an itemized copy to know what I was being charged for to dispute. They stopped calling me. I would call and get hung up on. Call again and they’d say they had no update. Weeks turned into months. I called saying I was concerned about the bill going to collections. They assured me that wouldn’t happen. Two months later ARSTRAT a collection agency began calling me. They had indeed sent my bill to collections. This is ILLEGAL and against my HIPA rights. How is it possible that hospitals can do this criminal activity without being held accountable? I finally got the opportunity to see my itemized copy from my health insurance company and saw they had charged me $600 for a urine analysis. $400 of that was for a pregnancy test… Where did the $1350 come from you may be wondering? That was for SITTING ON THEIR BED. Disgusting. Heartbreaking. Fast forward I am still having debilitating stomach pain but am now too afraid to seek medical care for fear it will send me into bankruptcy. This is America.
