I’ve never written a review in my life, but I do read the experiences of others to inform my decisions and I hope that sharing my experience will help others avoid what I experienced today. When trying to find a primary care doctor in San Diego, I chose Dr Simon Tanksley mostly for administrative/logistical reasons — he was accepting new patients and in a location convenient for both my husband and I. There weren’t many reviews on him when I searched. I tried to do my due diligence because I know how important a good family doctor can be, especially if my health were to ever turn. Unfortunately I chose poorly. He left me shaking after my appointment today. He repeatedly tried to force a symptom on me that I do not currently have and I have never had. He demanded that I see a specialist for this symptom (that I don’t have) and when I tried to speak up for myself to correct him I was told that “he didn’t believe me” and that “he wasn’t going to take my word for it.” In addition to being forceful about what my own body is not doing, he was rude, arrogant, and genuinely mean, for no reason at all. I have never been in a situation like this (thankfully) and it’s easy enough to start over with another primary. I just hope this was a one off experience, but odds are it isn’t (my husband was treated in a similar manner). Truly an awful interaction that really shook me and I genuinely hope others fare much better at Palomar Health.
