Please note that Sensible Dental has questionable practices. This dentist gave me an estimate of how much I would owe and how much my insurance would pay for a given procedure and told me they were a provider (and my insurance company said they were a provider). I have that “estimate” in writing from Mary Jo, the former office manager, and she said she got that information from my insurance company. I had the procedure done there based on that document and I paid my portion. Then I received an EOB from my dental insurance stating that they don’t cover this particular tooth. (Who knew that teeth have numbers and that you have to ask that question -- I would think the office staff of a dentist would know, and would handle that for you, but not here). Anyway, the insurance company tells me that Sensible Dental NEVER submitted a pre-determination of coverage, and that if they had done so, they would have been informed that this particular tooth isn’t covered. They also said that as a provider, Sensible Dental KNOWS this information. When I called Sensible Dental to argue that they should have to write-off this amount, since they did not get a pre-determination of coverage and they misled me to believe they had by putting the “estimated insurance coverage” on the statement they gave me, I was told by a NEW office manager that they don’t do pre-determination of coverage. So, I caution you about using this dentist. Unless you are willing/able to navigate through all the dental/insurance red tape on your own, then buyer beware. I should have known better than to go there, and now I hope you do, too. There are plenty of reputable dentists out there whose office staff are knowledgeable and willing/able to figure this stuff out for you. I would choose them instead of this “discount” operation. My mistake.
